He's swimming from one side of the tank to the other at night very fast constantly. Is this normal? He started shy, staying wedged in the rocks. But now he doesn't. Is this normal?

Never had crosshatch but plenty of triggers and never seen that except for a time when my pink tail was infected with ich and fluke and he will swim semi fast in a same pattern around the tank constantly till i treated him. Also notice this when fish feels cramp in their tank.

Mine is skiddish especially when the tank lights are off and the room is dark. He is getting better the longer I have him, yours is probably just getting used to captivity.

Leave the lights off for 2-3 days to help acclimate the CH to its new home. The behavior you describe is stress related form being put into your tank, IME that means your tank is too small. How much flow do you have in the tank?

So has the trigger been pacing the tank since day one? When adding a trigger its not uncommon for one to wedge in a rock until it feels safe. My fish follow me anytime I walk in my living room but that is because they are expecting food. Is the trigger eating well and a variety of foods? If so then I wouldn't be worried about the pacing as much. Pacing usually means fish is stressed and looking for more room to swim IME

Your tank is way too small for a crosshatch unless this is the qt

Thanks. Not pacing since day 1. Wedge into rocks for about 4 days. He doesn't wedge anymore and is eating well

Almost as to where he sees his image in the glass and is just following it

Your tank is about 5' short...they also need 74-76 degree water

Tank size is 50*30*26.
That's a tiny tank for a crosshatch of any decent size.

Crosshatch jumped last night and is currently out of commission. Expensive lesson learned
