View Full Version : skeletor eel/ Echidna xanthospilos
Anybody have any experience with one or have found any info on them? All info is appreciated. I am asking because I am planning for a future tank of about 75 to a 125 gallon tank. thank you in advance.

Great eel I've had mine quite awhile. Got it from divers den. It digs a lot but doesn't bug anyone. Happy to eat shrimp a couple of times a week soaked in Selcon or Zoe. Once settled I don't see it much except at feeding time when it's out and about :).

They are very quiet from my experience, easy to feed, beauty to look at. Vary the diet the best you can and they do like to "dig" around from time to time :) Let us know how it works out in the future if you do end up getting one of these beautiful creatures. :)
How big of tanks do you have them in? Did you guys get yours on DD? If one came up could i keep him in a 25 while I wait for the upgrade? Thank you for your responses.

I've kept mine in 110 then a125. The eel was happier in the 125 footprint. Since our move its been in a 54 which seems to work as its with a goblin and scorpion so no busy tank mates. It will need to move back to the bigger tank once I get settled in. A small eel could work in a small tank for a short time if you manage the waste/ water quality issues IMO I just wouldn't do it for very long.
That's what I thought. Like how you can quarantine fish in a little bit smaller of a tank than their permanent tank. I just don't want to miss one that comes up.

If you're going to upgrade, the time is now. It's a buyer's market when it comes to tanks, most standard 125s are going for $250 tank, stand and hoods/canopy....
I found a few, just weighing my options.
Can you guys post some pics of yours? And of some info on how you setup your tank?
