Are there any tank manufacturers that offer a 60 x 30 foot print tank without having to order somethign custom? I know marinland makes the deep dim. and deep sea aquatics makes a 60 x 27, which is probably what I will get if I cant find a standard 30" width.

Does anyone know of one?

Its so difficult finding 60" tanks now a days. I am on the search for a 60" 120 and I am getting some crazy quotes. I might just go with a 90. Good luck on your search.

What height is the marineland 60"x27"? I've been thinking of having a 60x24x24 built. I really can't understand why there aren't tons of 60" long tanks. Seems like a great size that gives much more fish flexibility than a 48" if one doesn't have room for 72" and larger.

I'm checking that out now, looks real nice. It will be my first marine setup so I'm going back and forth daily whether I want a 60 inch mixed reef or a 72 inch FOWLR due to having more types of fish available. Kind of intimidating. Buying a new house soon and will see what type of room/budget I have to work with.

why not go with the 72" mixed reef? lol they have a 72" x 27 x 27" 225 gallon tank too!, Thats what I ultimately want, but I dont think i can fit the 6' tank on the wall I have available.

Well I've gone back and forth a good bit. I'll have to figure out the cost difference of filling up each adequately for the corals to look nice. Tiny frags costing so much and trying to multiply it over that much space is intimidating.

I've gotten a huge range of price variance from three different LFS and all over the internet on what I'd need. I've probably read two to three hours a day for months and I still feel like I'm on block one.

Part of me would really like some large angels and butterflies that aren't reef safe. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

theres a recent build thread in the large tank forum on a DSA 190. I think I may get one as well not sure yet. All the custom quotes I have gotten would cost twice as much for a smaller tank.

Hi Dbondaruk,

what's the dimensions of the tank? I thought the new DSA tank have PVC bottom. From the reflection, it seems that your bottom is glass. Did you order it like that or it just come like that?

Thanks

The tank is 60 by 27 by 27 high. It does not have pvc bottom, the bottom is 3/4 glass... That was standard not custom ordered

One thing to consider with a 60" tank is the lighting requirements. Most fixtures even LED cover a 24"x24" footprint depending on how high you can place them above the tank. I have a 60"x30"x25"H tank and since it is acrylic with a center brace I was able to use only 2 MH fixtures or 4 LED fixtures to get enough light coverage. I currently have a 60" Sfiligoi T5 stealth fixture which works very well. I'm limited on height above my tank so I could not place the light fixtures very high.

If I where to do it over I would buy a 72" long tank.

Im fighting with the wife right now, we have 2 locations that we are talking about putting a large tank, one is next to the stairs that has a 60" wall, or in the dinning room where I can fit up to a 10' tank (but wouldnt want anything that large) the problem is she doesnt it want to hang past the wall by the stairs, so either i trick her into letting a 72" tank sit there, or I put the tank in the dining room where I wont see it as much...

or I go with the 60" tank. :headwally:

See if any of your LFS are able to get aquariums made by Planet Aquariums. There tanks are identical to Deep Sea Aquatics. They have a standard line of tank,s (unsure of sizes as there website isnt up yet, just what I was told). Then they make custom tanks. I just put in a quote for a custom tank, and was given a 2 week wait time.. PRetty fast turn around, but there tanks are top notch, my current tank is a PLanet aquariums tank.

I hear "Planet Aquarium" is the old oceanic people.
I recently had a 140-wide from Great Lakes Aquarium. I say had because I went bigger already. I now am building a 165 Wide from GLA [waiting for my rock/aragocrete to kure so it can be glued in] The tank is welll built and I will recomend them.

While im waiting on my kure, my stuff is in a older Oceanic 75g. And I just purchased a used Oceanic 37 cube [cheap] So I like them as well.
I looked at PlanetAquarium before and it looks better than the older stuff.

Cant go wrong with either one. Here is a link to GLA

Any questions just ask.

glasscages.com makes a 60x30x25 195 gallon gallon with a base price of $911, and they are located just outside of Nashville. They deliver to Atlanta, or you can pick up at their location.

You will find some that don't think glasscages tanks are very good, but I have their 30x30x24, 3 sides starfire 100 gallon RR rimless tank that has been in continuous operation for the past three yeas without any issues, and the build quality of my tank is very good. I have no complaints. The owner of the company is a douche, IMO, but they build a decent tank.
