Hi I recently bought two dwarf flame angle fish. One is significantly larger than the other with the intention of the bigger one being male and the smaller one being female. The two are currently in QT right now and the bigger one will chase the smaller one a little but isn't following it around trying to kill it ( so far ) my question is is this small amount of aggression normal and will they flame down or should I be worried?

I've heard of obtuse and right angles but not a flame.

My display is 180 but they are currently in a 20 gallon QT and are going to undergo tank transfers between that and a 30 gallon tank. They've been together for about 3 hours now and they're both swimming a lot but occasionally ( like once every five minutes ) the small one will get close to the big one and the big one with chase it away. It only chances it away it doesn't follow it and constantly attack it only a quick dart at it so far.

This is a pick of the QT if it helps in any way

I have made about 5 harems of pygmy angels and never had a single problem. Always 2 small and one big. Minimal chasing in the beginning from the male, but that died down quickly.

If funds allow I'd add a third small angel to reduce aggression towards one singular fish, plus 3 is better for them I think.

That's a good idea a third sounds really smart!

Do you think the little one Is safe for the night just the female and the male? She was a little torn up from when I bought her which I didn't know until I put her in QT and noticed so I don't know what damage if any the male has caused to her. So far I haven't seen anything physical just chasing

I had a pair form. Yes the larger was more aggressive the first day .aggression lessend each day. By the 4th day aggression stopped and they were together. Then they hid very well and couldn't observe them at all. I had way to many hiding places to ease the aggression. I also had low light to not spook them in such a sterile looking environment. They were in a 29gallon QT. Bad thing was they started to shimmy and breathe rapidly by the eighth day. I tried formalin and they died by the next day. So be aware of velvet it kills them quickly. My mistake was to QT together. I should have QT separately and watched them closely like I do. Then introduce them .

If they decided to hide and I can't observe them to see if they're healthy I'll just pull out the PVC. After day one they're both still very active. I have copper on hand if anything serious arises. I'm going to TT and treat with Prazi and hopefully all goes well.
