Oh I like the bonzai! So cool. Much more interesting than base rock I think.

I bought a mixture of bonsai and branch and will use it on my new tank. Does anyone have any problems with nuisance algae on their rock?

I only had algae when my nutrients got too high. No worry about leaching phosphates.

I just put another big order in with aqua texture. Honestly, it's the nicest looking and best rock you can buy. I seriously regret wasting $150 on live rock and $100 on pukani rock.

I can't find aqua texture on google

Sorry auto correct, aqua-tecture

Lol I remember trying to unpack the box from Aquatecture. It took me a long time to carefully remove the rock from the foam!!

FlyPenFly
10/29/2013, 02:10 PM
Yeah they pack it in about $500 in foam. Quite a mess to vacuum later.

Maximus

I suppose the foam is worth it though. I don't see how they could ship this delicate rock without any breakage if it wasn't for the foam.

I have Aquaroche ceramic rock in my reef. Love it....but damn it was expensive. Here's a pic at set-up March last year and a current pic.

is that hawaiian black sand? i just added some from caribsea and someone told me it contains lava and will kill everything in my tank!

FlyPenFly

It is, and no it won't kill anything.

Never seen this stuff before. Is there a reason you went with it over base rock other then the shapes?

Yea its not popular and not sure why except for price. Mine has lots of good places to place coral colonies on. Plus it doesn't tip over. I just like the way it looks mostly. Now its covered in tunicates and feather duster worms and looks really nice.

Primary reason: The shapes
Secondary reason: No pests (aiptasia, majano, etc)
Third reason: No phosphate leaching back into water

This. I stumbled across this stuff when looking at some cube builds. I really don't think it's that expensive either. I was looking at ordering several types of Marco rocks. All told it would be over $200, plus shipping, for a 60 cube. I've priced out multiple pieces of the cerameco rock and come in a little under $200 including estimated shipping. I'm tempted to ask them to make me some "rubble" for my fuge too. Looks like they've been around 3-4 years and I haven't read a single review where someone discovered it was causing problems.

Once the 60 is up I'll likely order some to replace the LR in my BC29 and a 5gal pico that I just started for my son. I'm on a waiting list for one of the Bonsai pieces. Really looking forward to getting some.

I'll do a build thread and link it here. Still at least 1-3 months from getting it wet. On the bright side my light gets here today. Pun intended! So proud of myself lol!

Kessil A360W. Very tough decision to make. Considered Pacific Sun Triton, Radion Pro, Maxspect Razor, and looked at some DIY solutions as well.

I have two pieces in my tank, bonsai and branch made by Cerameco and also couple of flat ceramics by Aquaroche. This is really good rock, very interesting shapes, a lot of place for corals and they don't leach anything. Couple of months in my tank already and I can't see any algae growing on it, with the exception of brown diatoms when tank was cycling.
