Currently have a 75g mixed reef with a HOB Reef Octopus HOB 1000 that does the job but I'm building a sump so I'll need to switch to an in-sump PS.

Looking for the quietest one I can get for under $350.

Thanks.

Id stick with reef octopus, nwb150 i think. Maybe the next step up. I had one on my 75 that was in my bedroom and it was quite enough for me to sleep.

I would suggest Aquamaxx skimmers. I recently did an upgrade from 55g with reef octo diablo xs160 which was a very good skimmer but loud to a 120g tank with Aquamaxx ConeS co-2. The skimmer is not made of acrylic that is as thick as the reef octo but for the life of the product it will be sitting in place in your sump. It is definitely think enough. That single negative stated, this skimmer is AMAZING! There are several things I really like about it. You would be looking at the ConeS co-1. The price is right and there are several people here on RC that will testify that they are very good. There are tons of skimmers that will technically work for you. You asked for advice and I can give you my 1 experience. Good luck! Good reefing!

Vertex Omega 130. The Vertex Omega's have great pumps and the best build quality of the mid range skimmers.

Seaside aquatics cs1/cs7. Virtually noise free and they get great reviews.

Since the aquamaxx cones are out of stock for a while, i would recvonand the RO diablo 160 or xs 1000 which i believe are under that range. Sea side aquatics has good ones too

The Tunze 9410 is excellent. Very good pump and the best customer service in the industry.

I'm thinking of rolling with an Aquamaxx Cone S 1, the 2's footprint is almost double the first... ***. Going in a 20g sump, should be great.

Anything vertex alpha or omega. Good quality but expensive
