One of my snails has a hard coral-like crust on his shell with what look like tiny little anemones on it. Does anyone know what they are and if they are a pest species or not?

It's really hard to tell from those pictures but it's probably not a pest. Any chance for clearer pictures?

They were clearer until the uploading software squashed them. Is there a setting for that? I'm a newbie here.

Instead of attaching, try using an image hosting site (photobucket) to link the photos.

Looks to me like an astrea snail. Can't be sure but I would guess so.

Yep - astrea snail. Harmless and beneficial.

Its not the snail I want identified.
Its the stuff growing on his shell.

The pics are just too blurry to tell. Take the snail out of the tank and put it into a container with some tank water and try to get some clearer pics.
