For all of you DIY'ers that have made mesh covers for your rimless tanks, how do you keep them in place?

I am looking at a rectangular tank that has absolutely no bracing.

Are there clips or special corners that you can purchase?

Pics of your handiwork would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

I just sit my screen top directly on the top of the tank. It's really not as noticeable as you would think.
I've also seen some people silicone small triangle peices in the corners and sit the screen on those, but honestly that seems like a lot of work.

I don't have a rimless but... :)

ADA makes clips for rimless tanks. So does Finnex.

Google for 'rimless tank lid bracket'. You should get lots of hits.

Are you planning to keep fish that will be able to lift the mesh screen from the tank? :-) I just have it sitting on top + I have my auto feeder clamped to it.

go to lowes, get you some aluminum angle, and some straight angle.
and also a rivet gun.

cut the angle pieces to and make a frame the size of your tank.
join them together with the rivets.
next lay the mesh down on the inside of the frame and starch tight, you will have to hold it down with something or get help.
next lay the strait aluminum pieces over the mesh and rivet it into place, I would put a rivet about every 2-3 inches. cut off the excess and you are good to go.

hope this makes sense. it did in my head.

Mine sits inside tank held by couple of small flat acrylic pieces that I glued to the frame.

Mark,
What a stunning tank! It has a very Iwagumi feel to it.
Do you have water in there?

The cover holders are exactly the look I've seen for various ADA tanks.

Thanks for sharing.

Mark,
What material did you use to make the frame for your lid? Strikingly beautiful tank btw.

Thank you, I made it from white screen set, you can buy at HD or Lowes. Used clear, plastic mesh from BRS.

if you search for "aquarium clip -lamp -light" on ebay, you'll see a lot of the acrylic kinds.

looks like ADA doesn't sell the metal "garden hooks" in the US.
