I just upgraded my return pump to an Eheim 1060 internal pump. Unfortunately the base plate is cracked and the suction cups are long gone. Any suggestions for quieting the hum created by the plastic case of the pump against the acrylic sump?

I think some people stick mouse pads or foam under their pump to try and get it to quite down. You could try something like that

You could also get some silicone and put a few large dabs on the back of the pump. (maybe a 3/8" in diameter) This will act as a cushion so to say.

I took 6-8" of 1" vinyl tubing, cut it in half (so that they looked like two tunnels), and placed the 1260 on top of it.

I've used silicone hot pads a couple times.

Is there something you could tie to the pump and lift it just off the acrylic so it would be barely floating in the water?

That's why the problem hasn't been acute. The tank is in the same room as my home theater/audio system. I just brought my old Carver m-400t amp up from the basement for reinforcement!

I stuck a Polyfilter pad underneath the pump and that quieted it right down. Now I just have to hook up my brand new Onkyo TX-NR717 home theater receiver and life will be good.
