I recently got this guy, Monday I believe. When I first put him in, he swam for 10 seconds then dashed to the sand and buried him self. I know they do that when frightened or sleeping, so no problem...

The past 3 days I noticed he is MIA (missing in action) all the day until 5PM sharp!!!! 5PM he is out and about like all is good and he just showed up from the "Twilight Zone"!!!??? Is this weird or just their pattern? I never owned one, so I can't tell.

Comments from owners or ideas?

Thanks guys!

Mine sleeps late. He is the last fish out of bed in the morning. I love mine. Wrasse in general seem to have odd behavior like this.

My Yellow Coris is always very active and out and about when the lights are on. It is normal, though, for them to disappear. Actually, mine did it the other night about 2 hours before the lights went out which was abnormal for him. My wife went into a panic and thought he died! LOL. They next morning he was back to normal. I guess he was just a little extra tired that day! ;)

Sounds like normal behavior as others have mentioned. Some advice -- I lost mine a few months ago because it jumped out. Definitely keep netting or cover on our tank!

Resurrecting an old thread, but came across this while researching. Have added a yellow coris wrasse to my tank after a qt period. Has been in my display at least 3 weeks but lives a reverse schedule to everyone else. Not sure when he wakes up but seems to go to sleep about 11:30ish am. Thought he was a goner but I see him on weekends when I'm home

If fresh from the ocean, they're adjusted to a different time schedule than what you are running. They'l adjust.
