I have seen a few YouTube videos on Granular Ferric Oxide and I am not sure but is this something we can make and save on money?

It's not really feasible to make GFO yourself but there are several threads on regenerating it to substantially extend its life.

To be useful, GFO needs to have a lot of surface area to be useful, so it's not something we can DIY.
