I have a 200g display and about 350g total system volume.
My alk has been dropping again (around 7 dkh), and still trying to get my calcium levels back up so I'm now dosing 360ml of each per day. 15ml 24x per day via my Profilux doser. AND i'm still topping off with fully saturated limewater.

Just wondering if this is "normal" for a mixed reef of my size.

Have you checked your PH recently?

I have no input based on your size but I had the same ? and my PH had creeped up too much so a lot of my kalk was not staying in the water.

Good luck

Dennis - What solution strength are you using? If it's Randy's two-part recipe #2, then the calcium strength is approximately 18.5 grams per liter of solution. So if you're dosing 360 mL of this per day, then you're adding 6.7 grams of calcium per day. Based on your system size, that doesn't seem unreasonable (to me, anyway).

I'm using BRS soda ash and calcium carbonate mixes and my ph is in the low to mid 8's.

That dose seems fairly large to me, but plausible. What's in the tank? Large clams and coralline can consume huge amounts of calcium and alkalinity.

Yeah, i have a large Derasa clam and coralline everywhere. haha

Okay, as long as you don't see signs of precipitation (off-white or tan buildup), I wouldn't worry much.

What salt mix are you using? Where do you keep your SG? How often do you do WC's? How much water are you changing? These will also have an affect on how much supplementing you have to do.

I'm using AquaVitro Salinity.
I keep my levels a little lower, around 1.024-25
I change approx. 4g daily.

And thanks for the comments so far.
I just wanted to make sure nobody went, "HOLY SCHMOKES!!! :eek2: :headwally: :spin2: :crazy1: :fun2: "

thanks for this post. I was getting nervous at 80ml / day of BRS, and a steady drip of kalk/vineger at 10tsp every 3 days. I was keeping my paramerts in check with just the kalk until the last month or 2 and had to add the doser.
