I have a 200 Fallon tank that had been running for a year. The nitrates are around 30. I added one vial of digest and one vial of optim. The following week I added one vial of optim. The nitrates are now around 80-100. Any idea if this swing is normal?

ive used prodibio for a while now and it has never caused nitrate to rise.are you using the pro version (large bottle) if not 1 vial in a 200g system is not close to enough.

And the digest is what you're wanting to add... I believe it's 1 vial per 50 gallons. I do 3 vials of the digest in my 250 gallon system (a week), and I do one vial of the optimizer... The optimizer isn't really necessary, it's the bacteria (the digest) that's important. I throw in some optimizer

I was doing 3 vials weekly, I'm doing 4 vials every two weeks now.

if you are using bio-clean salt it calls for 1 vial of each for every 50 gallons. if using bio digest alone it call for 1 vial every 30-250 gallons. still very confusing. i do 1 vial of each in my 75g/ and for my 30g freshwater planted tank i do 1 vial each of bio-clean fresh.

i would say for a 200 gal i would use 4 vials of each every 2 weeks.

I have the reef kit. I only added the bioDigest and the Bioptim. I will add two more Digest tonight and see if that helps.

It's going to take so time for this to help. I would t expect to see results with nitrates that high for a least a month or two. Be patient and stick with dosing.

The directions for Prodibio are hard to decipher. I will add the digest today and change the routine to 2 digest and 1 optim per week.

Thanks for the help.

I thought it was 1 vial for every 250 gallons of the bio digest and 1 vial of the opti for every 50 gallons? Both are every 15 days.

The instructions for bio-clean are clear. 1 vial of each per 50g every two weeks. That is where the confusion is. Bio digest says 1 per 250g but bio digest is part of bio clean.

Ok. I'm not using bio clean. Just want to make sure that I have the quantities correct. 1 bio digest per 15 day and 3 bioptim every 15 days for 200 gal.

What a coincidence. I have a 180 Letterman tank!

Week 3 added 1 digest and 2 optim. Nitrates are super high. Climbed to 80.

Didn't seem to ever balance out. I stopped when things started going south and switched over to vodka. Way easier and in just a week things started to color back up.
