I currently have an MP40 on the right side of my tank and a koralina constant pump on the left, the flow on the right is amazing where as on the left side it is kinda weak. Is a second MP40 going to be overkill for a 75g tank? It is a mixed LPS and SPS tank.

I was thinking either an MP40 or an MP10 on the left side, I was figuring an MP40 because when I upgrade my tank I would not need to replace it.

What you guys think?

Thanks! Also Happy Thanksgiving!! :fish1::fish1:

I ran two MP40s on my 75 gallon just fine. 100% reef crest. If you feel its to much to can turn them down. I had no issues and at that time I had a mixed reef.

Awesome! I don't know about 100% though because I am only running the one 70%, did your run them directly across from each other or did you offset them?

I had 2 MP40s in my old 65 G SPS tank,

2 mp40 would be great for a 75g

Awesome, I was saving up for 2x radion xr30w but I think my current lights are good enough for me to wait. More/better flow > lights.

Thanks!

lol there is actually a 5 part article on Advanced aquarist called "Water flow is more important for corals than light"

like offdahook said, you can turn them down if its to much, can't turn it up if you don't got it, coral will survive under just about any light source ( i didn't say grow or color up) but they absolutely need proper flow, i have 4 mp40's in a DSA 105 sps tank and love it, do i need 4? NO but the coral love the flow i can create with them not to mention i only have to run them at about 40% which saves me from waring out drive shafts or burning up wet frames. get the 40, you won't regret it, also ecotech is offering 20% rebates on them until the 2nd

The beauty of 2 MP40's on a 75 is you can run them at lower power thus expanding their longevity and making them much quieter. Not only is it not too much it's probably the way to go IMO. Also FYI(even though I'm sure you're fully aware) 20% off eco tech pumps at BRS and also I believe Marine Depot. Now would certainly be the time to get one.

I run two MP10's in my 90 at around 40%. I think two MP40's at 100% would destroy my tank. lol

Can't wait to get it now!
