This post is to ask about lighting. I have a 125g DT and a 55g DT, both mixed reefs-to-be.
It was suggested to me by a fellow reefer to purchase Taotronics led lighting.
Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/TaoTronics-Dimmable-Aquarium-Seaweed-TT-AL09/dp/B0092LXQRM/ref=sr_1_cc_1?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1375084820&sr=1-1-catcorr&keywords=TaoTronics+AL09)
There are 3 options you can select, and they each seem to have different features and different lights. What would you suggest? Ideally, I'd like to spend as little as possible. However, I will purchase what is necessary. Pros/cons of each fixture? Also, how many will I need for each tank? (3 foot 55g and 6ft 125g). Does the fixture with the extra colors actually make a difference?

For $10 more I'd buy the ReefBreeders value series. Great support and you get a full spectrum array vs just blues and whites. Lots of positive reviews here on RC for them.

there are several different ones, do i want 120 degree, 90, or 60?

Not 120. Some other reefers can chime in but the 60° versions will give you the flexibility to mount them higher for more spread. If that isn't an option you'll probably want the 90° optics.

I don't know exactly, but I have about 2-3 or so feet. What would be most ideal? I may have to build a canopy, because I'm not too keen on mounting to the ceiling.

and this LED will be sufficient so that I can have all types of coral in one tank? How many would you suggest? 1 for my 55g and 2 for the 125g?

The 48" will cover your 55, and two 32" fixtures for your 125. They should have enough power for anything, but I would ask in Lighting forum to verify with those who already own the fixtures.

I would use 3 of these on the 125. Works great for me.
