We are in the process of planning a 180 peninsula tank (6 foot long). Looking at tank flow, with a preference to minimizing visible powerheads.

current thoughts (open to feedback) is to have two variable DC return pumps with penductors at the far end of the tank pushing toward the wall end of the tank, and two tunze pumps from the wall side pushing back. The challenge being a powerhead capable of pushing the length of the tank while not overwhelming the corals near the wall/overflow side.

We would like variable pumps controllable with an Apex.

Thinking the narrow stream 6105 or 6155s - any experience with those in this configuration?

which pumps do you recommend?

thanks!

In general 2 6105's alone are sufficient for a tank of this size, since they come with both flow housings you are free to try them both, but the wide flow will give the lower velocity close to the pump that you are looking for.
