Ok so I'm looking to get back into the hobby and set up a simple softie and lps reef. I have a 150w sunpod and 2x54w t5 laying around that I can use and I am debating between tank sizes. I have a biocube stand I can use for the cube and a narrow wall that would look great with a long peninsula on it so here are my ideas:

18" cube

or

48x8x12t

I've always wanted a long an narrow tank but I feel like it might be a little tough to work with being only 8" wide.

What do you guys think would be the better option as far as stocking is concerned?

I would definitely go with the cube. 8" wide would severely limit the swimming space for fish, back & forth 24/7? Also the cube would provide many more aquascaping options.

Makes sense. I was really only thinking of it because I saw someone with a mr. aqua river 12g and I thought since I have 48" lights, why not just extend it another foot and make it work that way? haha
