Question about flow in nano cube

Hey guys I just bought a 12 gallon nano cube and had a few questions about flow but first ill desceibe my setup.

12 Gallon nano cube.
13 pounds live rock
20 pounds live sand (gave me a nice thick sand bed))
First chamber I left one sponge filter
Second chamber half unit of chemi pure elite
3 chamber stock pump at 106 gph.

My question is I have a maxi jet 1200 sitting at my house from an old tank. Is this pump to powerful for a 12 gallon?

I know the common pump upgrade is a maxi 900, I just don't want to buy another pump if I don't have to.

I'd say try it. It obviously will push some pretty good water though ha

I'm thinking run a split in the outlet and run two powerheads
