Looks like a Flowerpot Coral to me.

I think it is a Gonipora (flowerpot) as well. Sadly, they have a dismal record in home aquariums. There are a couple species being imported that seem to do a bit better, but overall, they tend to waste away and die over about 6 months for most.

Think of it like a flower in the garden... looks good for a while and eventually goes away after a season.

yea, the the guy at my lfs sold this to me.. turns out he didn't even know what it is. He also told me it was very easy to keep and for beginners. :( I have had my tank for almost 1 1/2 years and this is my first piece of coral.. The whole rock was completely covered. it just keeps wasting away. pretty sad about this so is my wallet.

If I remember correctly they are not that expensive though? think of it in a good way, a challenge to get your system to the quality that maybe one day you would know enough to keep it?
