what kind of setup should i get? i need to keep it under 100lbs? i live in an apartment

Perhaps an 8 gallon nano? I can't imagine why you couldn't go up to a 40 gallon system but you are in the 500 pound range with a 40.

go with a 40 gallon breeder, or a 65G. try to get the tank and sump and stand 2nd hand.

that depends on your space then ... how long is the longest wall ? how wide can u go ?

but a nice custom tank will take half your budget ...

depends on where you live ... miracles aquarium is one of the best, but in Canada, Ontario.

something like 6 by 3 by like 18-20" would look awesome !

Miracle's do have great looking tanks but I'd wager the tank that would take almost your whole budget... I had them price me a 45x24x18 tall and that was going to cost me around 2k...

Look at glasscages.com. Some like them, some dont. I went with their custom 95gal(true90gal). 36x24x25(24"WL) for a custom wall in my basement. They have all sorts of sizes and options, drilled, non-drilled, stands, no stands, glass, acrylic, etc.

My setup from them...

36x24x25 glass tank - $372
Reef ready(glass wall overflow and drilled) - $75
Black acrylic overflow cover to protect glass overflow - $35(per cover, i needed only one)
Glass tops - $35(they talked me into but i no longer use them)
Bulkheads - $30(guaranteed correct size)

you could set up a sweet 180 with 3.5k. not as shallow and pretty standard but they can be really nice.

You could look into the Innovative Marine Nuvo Shallow Reef 120. They look interesting.

You need to ask yourself 1 question... what are you trying to keep alive and thriving in your tank?

Without that answer you might as well give me the 3.5k :D

A fully loaded doublewide fridge can weight about 2000 lbs according to an internet lookup. 2 stout friends having a conversation can weigh 500 lbs. You're ok with 500 lbs if you situate your tank near a corner and on a 'loadbearing' wall, ie, a main or outside wall that actually reaches the ground, not just a 'floating wall' that's put in to break up space.

That's the problem with apartments, the fatty's keep falling through the floor.
