Which brand is the best to use? Are there any risks of scratching a glass tank with the magnet scrubbers? Thanks

Magfloats are popular and relatively cheap. The best would be an Algae-Free magnet but these are expensive. And either should not scratch the glass unless you get something abrasive stuck in between it such as sand...

I use the standard Mag float & added a s TLF nano mag for hard to reach places. It's surprisingly good - very low profile so it fits I some tight spaces. It's too small to be the sole cleaner for a larger tank.

Yes you can easily scratch the glass & I've done it unfortunately. Sand can get caught underneath them. For me, I have only scratched the glass with long fast strokes. If you twist it in circles slowly it doesn't scratch for some reason. This works! Clean the scrubbing side before cleaning the glass with a tooth brush. Keep it away from the bottom of the glass near the sand bed unless you're prepared to be ultra careful. I clean this part with the TLF nano mag as it seems harder to scratch with it as the magnets are not as strong as the full sized magnets - I will clean this part with a new one-sided razor blade on a long necked scraper but be careful as blades can easily scratch too if you dig the sharp pointed edges into the glass. No magnet saner I've seen does a good job on coralline algae unless it has a scraper attachment. Be careful at all times & good luck.

I use a large magfloat with the razor adapter for my very deep bow 105 gallon glass. I can't reach where it goes. And it cleans very nicely.

I have some coraline that I can't get off the glass. By the way Hail Skins.

Flipper is another great magnet. And it has a scraper attachment built in. I use it daily for service accounts.

+1 on Sk8r. Mine is great. I don't leave it in the tank as the blade will get rusty.

I have a couple mag floats on my tanks and have been happy with them.

On my 75g DT, which is good quality glass, I don't have any scratches. However on my 20 long QT tank which is a cheapie I scratched the crap out of it. Not a big deal since it is just a cheap QT setup though.

On my 10g and 2.3g planted tanks I haven't scratched anything yet either. They're both deep blue brand.

There may be better quality cleaners out there other than mag float, but they are easily available and reasonably priced, and have worked quite well for me.

Worried at all the the blade will scratch? I am always afraid in nicking the blade and scratching the glass.

+1 to the flipper
I love mine

Yes a grain of sand on the pad will scratch the glass like crazy so you have to be careful with any of them.
The flipper has a metal scraper for glass and a plastic scraper for acrylic and a soft side for scrubbing. Best cleaning investment I have made.
