Using Elos test kits for CA, Alk and MG.

PH- 8.1
CA- 350ppm
dKH- 15
MG- 650ppm
SG- 1.018

Raising SG currently but not sure why my MG are so low.....could it be the salt?

It could be a combination of salt, low salinity and being used up in a new tank. Get you salinity up, and test the mg in water change water.

How did you get alk so high? Double check it's not 2 drops per 1 dkh

The low SG is the problem. You haven't added enough salt mix and since the mag comes from there....

Have two threads with same question. Maybe mod can delete the other and keep this one open. Thank you David. I started raising SG and will be testing the new salt batch just to make sure it has enough MG. I'll double check the ELOS KH test kit on the drop count for my dKH

Doubled checked the ELOS test and for ever drop its .5 degree. So it took 30 drops to get mine to change from Cyan to Yellow. My salt is now at 1.021. Gonna test MG again

Have you been adding pH buffers?

OK just tested MG again and it's now up at 900. So the only thing I did was increase SG levels. Looks like i'm heading in the right direction. Thank you all for your input!

Only product I was using was purple up. But I have now stopped using it and switch to B ionic. Haven't started it yet though other then one dose of MG two days ago. But even then my KH was high. So i can only assume that the purple up is responsible for raising my KH so high.
