Hi all. I was doing some Sunday maintenance and wanted to one of my zoa plugs further away from my hammer since it's been growing a lot lately and it may have started stinging one of the zoa polyps.

So when I went to pick it up, I noticed this weird white growth on the bottom in the shape of a sphere or ball with a tube coming out of it. It's pretty small, but still easily visible with the naked eye. I picked the frag up and got another picture of it. I noticed a lot of pods sitting around it, if that helps. I built up some bravery and touched the thing and it feels fuzzy. Is this a good guy or bad guy, and should I leave it or remove it? If it helps, the zoas it is under are doing just fun and have grown a few new heads in the past week alone. They're closed up in the pictures because I was messing with them, but now, 20 mins later, they're back open loving life.

What is this thing? Thanks guys!

It's near my index finger in the next pic:

Looks like a sponge, possibly a Scypha (aka pineapple) sponge. Not a problem. Very common hitch hiker that will grow throughout our tanks, often in overflow, sumps and other out-of-the-way places.

Nice! I googled it and it definitely does look like that. Happy to hear that it won't be a problem. Thanks a ton, Kevin!
