Most of the time he is just sitting on the sand, but sometimes he squeezes to the glass

It's a polyclad flatworm. They eat clams and snails. You'll want to remove it.

I just found one of them in my tank think it's been eating snails for almost a year I work nights so dont get too many chances to look at the tank after lights out the worm has to be 5-6 inches long I made a trap and put a semi dying narcisisis snail in it yesterday. Tonight after lights out I saw him crawl out of the rock and start sucking on the snail in the trap only problem was the snail was right by the entrance so he never really got in the trap. Anyone have any ideas on another bait I tried a bit of frozen clam in with the snail the only one interested was my red shrimp and I don't want to buy more snails to sacrifice to this devil worm that's just wrong.

I had them. They are noctornal animals. I found quite a few but would have to check on the tank real early in the morning like 3 am. I got them out but found out later on the easiest way to remove them is with airline tubing and a little syphoning.
Good luck

How big were your worms? This one is huge I'd have to hook up the line to a vacuum pump to get him out I feel

In my tank they were close to 2 inchs. They were huge.
You wont need a pumps. They shrink up alot.

And the other problem I've never seen this guy out cruising around he's always in the rock work and usually most of his body is still deep in a rock if I try and such him out of a hole I figure he'll just break apart

After months of watching snails disappear Mr polyclad flatworm finally screwed up. While changing my filter sock during routine maintenance I disconnected a piece of PVC pipe that my sock slides onto and pulled the sock off and BAMMMMM caught with his pants down the worm stuck to the PVC!!!!!! He's now the new occupant of a Chinese food container for the foreseeable future :uzi::uzi::wavehand:

Thanks for the heads up.......do they usually reproduce? I remember reading that they can split if torn and multiple but I wonder if they reproduce asexually as well

I'm keeping him alive for now you don't understand how long I've been watching him slither in and out of the rocks and the graveyard of snail shells I've acquired

I kept one in a cup of saltwater for a couple of weeks hoping to see it die a miserable death. No heat, no replacement of evaporation, no food.
Eventually the fear that It would escape and attack me while I was sleeping prompted me to flush it.
