So I’ve wanted a tank for a long time and my Wife finally gave me the green light when we built our house. The tank will be 150 gal 5x2x2 built in to the wall of the living room. The fish room is 10’ by 5’4” with the stand built in to the wall and has to house all my equipment.

The tank was ordered from the LFS with a coast to coast overflow with 3 holes so I can run a Bean Animal overflow.

The plan is to put the sump and refugium on this wall. This can fit a 36” tank

I’m thinking of splitting the overflow to drain about 10% first into the fuge and then have the fuge drain to the sump and then pump back up to the tank.

I’m a little worried about the fuge drain clogging and causing a flood or also making noise any ideas are welcome.

As far as equipment I’m planning on:
60” ATI sunpower in either a 6 or 8 bulb configuration
3 Hydror Koralia 1150’s for flow
2 200w Eheim Jager heaters
Reef Octopus nw 200 skimmer
Eheim 1262 Return pump
75 GPD RO/DI from the filter guys

My current livestock plan is a mostly SPS dominated tank, although the Wife is insisting on an anemone for the clown fish. I'm also planning on a 6 line wrasse to help with any AEFW that may get in and a Yellow Tang. But I'm open to any other suggestions.

Since you are starting from scratch i'd make room for a QT system, possibly plumbed into the main display but with micron socks to capture any pests that you are trying to avoid. Believe me you dont want AEFW and there arent any fish that are going to cure you of them.

Awesome plan though. Keep the pictures coming.

Hmm I had planed on QTing fish but I hadn't thought about corals. How small would the sock need to be to catch most pests if I plumed it into the main system?

OK so change of plans. I'm having someone take out the drywall that encloses the stand and build a platform under it so I can house my sump/refugium down below the tank. This should help save a good bit of space.

Does anyone have experience with PVC wall sheets. I saw some at lowes and was considering attaching them to the bottom half of the fish room to help keep water from getting to the walls.
