I am talking to Reef Savvy about a custom tank build (72x24x24 rimless). We are talking about using their 24" ghost overflow but I am wondering since the tank is a custom tank anyway, would I be better off just having them notch the back pane and overflow into an external box w/ BA style plumbing?

If I did this, I could likely do a coast to coast and just have the majority of the back notched.

Anyone have feedback based on experience?

I would if I was having a custom tank built..
Its basically personal preference though.. Do you want an overflow box in the tank taking up room or hanging off the back?

Well with the ghost overflow you get a little of both... there is a 1.5" internal and a 4.5" external which got me to thinking... why do the ghost at all when you can notch the back? But this is what Reef Savvy was pushing ...
