I have a hang on clip that I use to hold my JBJ ATO switch in the sump but its around 8.5".. The next increment would bring it up or down by 1.5"... I would like my sump around 7.5" so I need to move the sensor switch in smaller increments. whats everyone using?

Marine Depot & other retailers carry a magnet kit with a variety of clips for airline, heaters, probes etc. That might work. Can't remember the brand name but a quick site search will pull it up.

I use a vertex magnetic tube holder for my elos sensor. Avast Marine also has some magnetic options that can work with a variety of things.

Reef Frog, I use those to hold my ato sensors and all kinds of other tubing, they are called mag-clips and made by zoo med I believe. Very nice and pretty powerful little magnets.

I use a PVC pipe.
Take a T or 90° elbow cut a slit in it the thickness of your sump.
Put a length of pipe with a cap (minus the height of the ATO switch) on it that gets you with in the area you want the ATO at.

Drill a hole in the cap and find a bolt with the same thread pattern of the ATO sensor and use that to tap out the hole in the cap.

Thread the ATO wires thru the hole, up the PVC pipe and out the T or elblow.
Screw the switch into the tapped hole and then you can adjust the height of the ATO switch by screwing further or less into the cap.
