I am looking at getting a used tank to use for saltwater but the tank was used for turtles. I have always heard not to use a turtle or reptile tank for fish. Is this true?

To hold costs down reptile tanks are made from thinner glass since they do not need to hold back the pressure of water and as so constructed they should not be used as aquariums.

The better question here is, was this tank originally a fish tank or an actual reptile habitat. If it is a fish tank, you should be able to just clean it really well and re-use it.

was it a tortoise or aquatic turtle? aquatic turtle should be fine for a fish tank, tortoise may not be an okay tank. Find out if its a terrarium or aquarium.
