View Full Version : RO/DI Output Drop

I've been running a BRS 75 GPD 4 stage system for about 6 months. About a month and half ago my output dropped to about half of what it should be. I replaced the sediment and carbon block and still low output. I just checked, it looks like I'm somewhere around 6:1 to 8:1 waste to clean water.

My TDS off the membrane is 1, so I know it's functioning well, just slow. And my pressure valve is reading 0, don't know if it's broken or the reason for my problem.

Anyone have any idea?

If the source of your water gets colder the output through the ro filter slows down.

Looks like that was the issue. Thank you

Glad to help, you're welcome

I always assumed I should only put cold water through the unit. Is it okay (or perhaps desirable) to use hot or lukewarm water instead?

Thanks

I think they're rated at temps around 75 degrees. I have an unheated crawlspace in upstate NY so the water is really cold out of the tap right now.

Dont hook it to hot water, I learned that the hard way. The filter is fine under any temp condition you encounter hooked to the cold tap.Hot is a whole different story.

OK. Thanks!

Yes I should have clarified, they have optimal output around 75. They just apparently go really slow at much lower temps.

Lower temps will give you cleaner water as well.
