Can anyone tell me which gender this mantis shrimp is? Also, anything else noteworthy that we may need to be aware of would help. Thanks!!

What the heck is your camera mounted on to make it that smooth?

I wish I could take credit for the filming, but in fact when I uploaded it to youtube it said "it seems like your video is a little shaky, would you like us to smooth it out for you?" I clicked yes, this was the result! :-)

^this.

I used that all the time. I have a terrible camera and youtube made the difference.

It has its uses I know I never use it cause it lowers the quality of my vids as noticeable in preview vs original.

Based on your photography, youtube puts your excellant work to shame. I don't think any program could improve your images anymore than they are now.

What cam do you use exactly anyway?

I've stopped free-handing my cell phone when taking videos and bought a tripod mount for it for taking videos so I don't have to run it through the stabilization filter. It can really degrade the details. However, if the video is shaky and lots of detail isn't necessary, it's better than having a Blair Witch Project style video.

The camera I use is a Nikon 1 V2 really good camera cause of it's ability to interchange lenses yet isn't a true 'dslr', my mates got a DSLR he paid 3x more for then this and the video on his is well....my phone is far better then his cameras video capabilities...and the N1 V2 as you can all see takes very good pictures too.

When I first got into Stomatopods I knew that it was never going to really be about 'photos' but more about 'videos', even now after keeping my current camera the N1 V2 and having it for just over a year (getting it this time last year) I am making plans for my final purchase, I started saving for a great camera one that should at last allow me to capture exactly what I want to see and in the highest quality possible to rival that of what we see on TV in Nat Geo/Discovery/etc.

Whilst I haven't actually put my finger down on the exact camera I want...I do know what type of camera I want and how much I am willing to spend...this time I'm going for a fully fledged legit high speed camera something along the lines of this...

I really like how easy this one is to use and setup along with it's capabilities something I would drool over to put in front of my tanks then play with after in and editor with music and effects!
