I have had the maxspect razor for about 8 months. My corals don't seem to be doing as well as with my 96w PCs.

Has anyone lowered the height of the unit? It is mounted on the stand that comes with it. I was thinking of removing the legs and lowering closer to the water.

What intensity settings are you running the A/B channels at?

I had it on Preset 2. I just switched to preset 1. Does that help?

define "not doing so well" (bleaching/slow growth,etc...)
tank dimensions?
current mounting height?
blah blah blah...
There is a good change you have too much light..

I had 4 PCs at 96w each. Before that I had 4 150w MH. All grew like weeds.

Now they are not growing and most days they are recessed and looking sickly.

It is a 75g. Razor is on the boxed stand. 6 inches above the water.

All water parameters are the same. Nothing other than lighting has changed. The only thing that has changed in the last 5 years is this light. Everything else down to the corals and fish are the same.

One 27 inch razor on a 48 inch tank....should have 2 20 inch models. Also the presets are quite strong running at 100 percent. Most people that run the razor hang it higher to get better spread and less intensity. ( 8-12 inches )

The bulk of the corals are in the middle. Right below the main intensity. Research led me to believe 1 would be plenty.

So should I be getting a second one or lowering intensity?

Start with lowering the intensity alot!!!! corals should begin to stretch back out after a few days then increase as needed slowly over several weeks. Recessed coral polyps are usually a sign of too much light from LED. Unless they exhibited stretched out polyps first before receding.......

Raising the light may also be beneficial to the tank. But one adjustment at a time.

Find someone local who is familiar with LEDs and corals to help you or post some pics as you go so we can help you better. There are far too many ways to use LEDs that will work and even more ways to use LEDs to kill a tank if your not carfule and patient.
