That's pretty cool. I was going to say some sort of sponge but it almost looks like an encrusting coral too or favia. If it was not exposed to light for a long while, I'd have to say sponge. Very weird

I'd say its a favia too. Heres a pic of my red and green eyed one.http://i631.photobucket.com/albums/uu36/chamjack/image.jpg (http://s631.photobucket.com/user/chamjack/media/image.jpg.html)

It's completely encrusting the rock following the rock contours.

It's moderately common. Move it to the indirect light and good water flow. They can burn easily with alk swings too.

I'm not having a lot of luck searching Psammocora vaughani ....I'd like to learn as much as I can to keep it healthy and growing. I also can't fined one that has the same colour as the one I have... I'm still unsure if it's sps or lps? Can someone help me out a little here

I put a link in with my guess if you are looking to verify it. It might not be P. vaughani. But it is Psammocora. It could be Psammocora profundacella aslo. Definitely not a Favia or War Coral.

The color will not matter when IDing a coral, if you go by it then color can even be confusing.

I would say this is an SPS, but is can be debated like Cyphastrea, the polyps are just in between that decision.
