I have a 30RL AIO tank up for four months now. I have a pair of chromis and a pair of clowns. With a hammer, torch, Duncan, zoanthids, xenas, candy cane, and a acan frag. Everything looks very happy and growing my temp varies from 76 to 77 degrees. Is these too low? Scared to change it since everything is doing great.

Your temp is fine as long as it is pretty constant. I used to run around 73-74 in the winter.

Depends upon your livestock. If you are keeping mostly LPS and softies, I would bump the temp a little higher to 78 - 80 as these species are typically found in shallower warmer water. I try to run all of my tanks around 76 - 77, but that is because I keep a lot of SPS - on the reef crest where most SPS are found, temps are significantly lower than the lagoons, etc. where LPS/softies grow. I think a good middle ground for a truly mixed reef is around 78.

I have been running my reef at 78-80 for more than 2 yrs. The least fluctuation in temps the better. Question is are there any pros and cons in growth and/or color with a person growing coral @ 78/79 compared to a person @ 73/74

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Do you run different temps in the summer?
