Got this 40 gal for free Can I use a terrarium as a sump wondering if it's safe was thinking of siliconing over the existing silicone for added strength and because the silicone didn't look that thick the glass is 1/4in thick

Only one way to find out...

Also, I suspect siliconing over existing silicone will not provide very much strength. It really needs to be done right from the get-go, but maybe someone else can chime in.

most terrariums are NOT suitable to fill with water as they use thinner glass as their aquarium counter parts.

Thickness of the glass shouldn't be a problem it's the same thickness of my brothers 40 breeder think im going to fill it with water for a couple of days and see wht happens

If you fill it with water. Let it sit for a few days. Make sure you do it outside incase something unexpected occurs.
