My canopy has an open back. I have been struggling with solutions for hanging my 2 radions. If I use the Ecotech hanging kit, lights will be too low (less than 9") or if I drill holes the hardware will stick up and be unsightly and prevent opening the front.

I have seen other solutions for sliding tracks etc.

If I just use long M5 x8mm (M5.08) screws and mount them in a static position, how far away from the roof of the canopy do they need to be? How much heat do they kick out on the topside?

Should I drill large vent holes above the fixtures for heat and circulation?

I'll be using Air King clip on fans to help with air circulation and cooling.

Any help??????

capt_cully,

I would recommend mounting the Radions so that they are at least 8 inches from the surface of the water. Also, you will want to have enough room above the light for proper air circulation. (2-3 inches)

Ok, thanks, that's what I needed to know.

Here's what I did. Cut squares in the top and made a lip to hold the light in place. The vent's outlets are outside of the canopy so it vents really well.

and with the canopy open:
