Magnesium dosing

So i did testing today
Ammonia was 0
Nitrite 0
Ph is 8.0
Nitrate was through the roof

So i took some water to get tested
Nitrate was actually close to 0

Magnesium tested at 1050 so i bought magnesion by lifewell aquatics.

Reason being is my frogspawn has started to receed a bit and i'm worried. Earlier it was sliming some white and now i think i see some brown patch, anyways.

Directions say 5ml for 20 gallon
But it also says if under 1228 to add 10ml so i did. How do i go about checking the mag level?
Should i check tomorrow or give it a few days?
Tank is also 20 gallons.

Give it twenty or thirty minutes and test it.

Be warned, it can take an insane amount of magnesium supplement to get the number to move even a little.
