Hi guys,
So when i first started my 55 gallon I was looking for leds on the cheap. Of course leds are not exactly cheap though. I got the solar flare sx 48, a cheap (well, for leds, it was 250 bucks) fixture that I decided I would use for now. It's a 72 watt fixture with 24 leds which I know is not very much at all. I know that. My question is how much do you think his will grow? I've had a few softies and lower light lps and they seemed to do ok. Just wondering.
Also, I've been looking at rapid leds 75 gallon retrofit kit, but then I saw those ocean revive fixtures, which have gotten good reviews.
Questions:
1. Would 2 arctic- s026 fixtures be enough for a 55 gallon mixed reef?
2. Can I control them with an apex?
3. For those of you with them, how are they working out, and what are you growing?
Thanks

I would go with 2 IT2040's that way you have 2 power cords instead of 4. Plus they have a programmer already built in. That is what I have

no not without modification..
Oceanrevive supposedly has a version with a built in timer coming out shortly.. Not sure when though...
I would hold off for that..
Those fixtures are great and 2 is plenty for a 55G.. I have 2 on my 120G 72" long tank..

What about the reefbreeder photon 48, are those controllable/dimmable with an apex? I know they are programmable

yes, they would grow anything you want and more.
2. Can I control them with an apex?
no, they can not be controlled with an apex
3. For those of you with them, how are they working out, and what are you growing?
Don't have one yet, but will be ordering them this week.

Currently oceanrevive is getting ready to release the new arctic t247 which is the same as the S026 in looks and LED setup, but with a lot more options and upgrades for slightly more money. Here is the link to learn more about the new arctic fixture.

They also have the IT2040 fixture which will work for you as well. They are more money, but for good reason. Here is the link to the IT2040

I have been in contact with the oceanrevive people and the t247 is looking like a february release, I was going to purchase the s026 but will wait the couple extra weeks to get the new upgrade

thats exactly what i was thinking. but for the person looking to spend the least amount possible for a good LED fixture, the S026 is a good option and an upgrade over the already tried and proven evergrow fixture.
