Hello I set up my Sca-301 skimmer and I have been getting foam out of the blue tube used to adjust it and none in the cup. I set it up a week ago and have it in 8in of water do you think it just needs more time to break in and the foam comming out of the blue tube will stop.
Thanks
Steve

Do you have any bubbles in the neck of the skimmer? The blue tube had an angle cut that's used for adjustment by turning it, i'm familiar more with the 302 than the 301, hopefully a 301 owner can chime in if they've seen it before. There's not an obstruction in the skimmer neck that would force bubbles out the tube?

Yes there is bubbles in the neck of it. I getting a little in the cup but some comes up everynow and the from the blue tube. I have been running it on 2 but have tried all the settings and it still does it.
Thanks

That is normal at first- even after a mild Dawn dish soap wash then 50/50 vinegar wash then RO wash then rinse, rinse then rinse some more , it still took 4 weeks to the day to break in, I'm at about 7 weeks on my 301 and I'm very happy! mine is in 7 inch's of water. Leave it set on 2 and forget about it for another 3 weeks
I'm thinking about putting a 2 inch extension on the collection cup but that's for another thread.

Tank is around 8 months old. Seems to be pulling more junk out now but still getting foam out of the blue pipe. I guess I will just give it some more time and see what happens.
