Im setting up a 14gallon biocube frag tank. I saw on amazon an aquamana aq 55x3w led light fixture for 170$. Will this be too much light? I dont wanna mount it so itll sit atop the tank. Tank will be mostly lps definitely no sps. Thanks ;)

Here is the thing about dimming. First you save on the led's the lower you run them the longer they will last, and the second somewhat related is it will not produce as much heat. The number failure of Led's and related components is heat... So IMHO you are better off to buy a dimmable fixture and run it lower then max.

I don't know the fixture exactly but 55×3watt LED's is a TON of power.

I run 52x3w LEDs on my 90g DT. running 55 on a 14g bio cube will be way more then you will ever need

Yeah. The issue is I cant find any decent led fixtures for a 14 biocube thats not a kissel or a par38 or 30. Do you guys have any suggestions? Also if I do get this fixture and run it at 1\4 power that will only be like 40 watts. Is that too much still? Also I dont want to ceiling mount it. Itll be sitting right on the top of the tank.

Ocean revives look great but arent they the same issue as the aquamana?
