If I did a cylindrical tank lets say 4x4.. Would it open any live stocking worlds that a 200 gall wouldn't that was rectangular?
Also, would it be stupid to keep 2 90 longs right next to each other, and plumbed in the same so one side I could do triggers, and Picasso, and puffers... And the other a reef?

I dont think a cylindrical tank has any advantages other than being cool at that size. Big ones are used for sharks and other fish than need to be constantly in motion. Mainly they just look really cool!
No problem with the 90s, as long as sump is sufficient to handle power off situations for both tanks- and your skimming and such are able to keep up with the bioload.

I don't think a cylindrical tank offers any other advantages besides aesthetics. Only concerns I could think of is surface area for gas exchange but if you run a skimmer this is moot.
I've seen a couple of setups where two larger tanks where plumbed together. The coolest example was two tanks separated by a wall next to a walk-through. One side was a reef and the other side I think was a mantis tank with macros in it. I tried to find the video, but no luck.
Some of the ROTM have multiple tanks running on one giant system. You can flip back and see their setups.

Loads of folks have tanks connected together in their system, us included. It's a normal step forward when putting together a large system.
... Only concerns I could think of is surface area for gas exchange ...
Not sure I understand/agree here. For a given tank volume, the shape does not matter as long as the height is kept constant. Thus, if you have 4 tanks, oblong/round/square/rectangular ..., and all of them have the SAME height and volume, they for sure will have the SAME top surface area and gas exchange will be the same ...
Am I missing something?
