hey guys, is there anybody here knows where to re-silicone a tank.. its been sitting dry for a year now and I want to start my reef tank again. I'm scared that it might get crack and spill water all over the floor. Its a 55g tank.
I live in Glendale. please lmk

Thanks you

Fill it with water and leave it outside on a dry level surface to see if it leaks. Silicone is pretty tough.

agreed, don't fix it if it isn't broken

My new 400 was curing for two years in my living room and looking good with water. I think you are good for sure.

To re silicone a tank all panels need to be removed and then cleaned completely of old glue and then re-siliconed, it takes about 2-3 days of hard work., This is not only a difficult project but also an expensive one, much more than the replacement of a 55gal tank. I have done a dozen or so tanks like this when I was young and poor, but when my 190 went, we tossed it rather than fixing it.

I'll agree with everyone. The silicone is expensive if you buy the right kind. If you have OCD (like me) and can't handle the fact that the lines you made aren't perfect it'll mean you will have to start over a few times. It takes practice to get lines that are perfect.

actually you can wipe the silicon with acetone or lacquer thinner as you work on it to remove all unwanted silicon this will make the job absolutely perfect, the solvents do not affect the hold nor contaminate the tank. But it is still time consuming and expensive of a project.
