I was doing maintenance today and was zapped. I narrowed it down to my sicce 4.0. I emailed the store to see about replacement.
My question is .. Is the meantime what should I be doing. I have s power head(Jebaowp40) that's circulating water.
I don't want to have to buy a 200 dollar pump of I don't have to seeing this has lasted me a little over a year.
Please let me know everything I should be doing for my fish/corals.
Thanks
Also I plan on buying a better power strip so I don't get killed next time

get a multimeter tester and test the water vs ground, turn off all devices and turn one on at a time until you figure out which one is leaching current into the tank.
once you figure out which one is faulty, leave it off until you find a replacement.

OK I found that it was the pump since I dummy checked it and once unplugged no more shock.
I plan to get gfic and also new power strip. What are the best ways to set it up? A gfiC outlet or a gfic strip or adapter. I'm not very electively inclined

I do plan to get the multimeter tester to make sure nothing else is shorting also for the future.

OK got a bunch of stuff.. First off glass holes is where I got the pump and they gladly replaced the pump for me. I switched my outlet to a gfic and bought a new power strip. I also ordered a ground probe. I'm hoping things will be OK until the pump arrives.
Should I just take sump water and dump it in display to circulate it temporarily or what

You should have a backup return pump on hand. Always have a backup that is plug and play with proper fittings.
I assume the tank isn't sitting stagnant and that the display has power heads in it. If so move your heater to the display along with any rock you might have in the sump and drain the sump.
If your display is sitting stagnant you have less then 4h till water flow stops before the tank starts to die.

Yeah I had the power head.. Also I hooked up my extra pump i use for waterchanges for now.
I also checked my stray voltage and I am picking up about 10 watts with everything plugged in. Is this normal? Even with lights I get a little bit I'm thinking maybe its from the magnetic drive putting it out there from the pumps and power head.
What do you think
