Anyone been to or have kids that have gone to the Fun Zone in Farmingdale on Broadhollow road? My wife wants to have our daughter's 9th birthday party there, but I've never seen the place and the few reviews I've found on-line aren't promising.

Will probably stop by after work to check it out, but was looking for others' experiences.

I've been there, it's a Nathan's. They have an arcade, but it's really not all that special, and the place was pretty dirty looking. We've done 2 birthday parties at Adventureland (10 and 12 years old), and I recommend that you take a look at them, but of course that's not a cold weather place.

I was there for a 5 year old party and it was a madhouse. Families were there and other parties at the same time. Supervision is not the best there. However, 9 is very different than 5. Kids were missing on two occasions at this party. I like a place like Bounce U or Bouncers and Slydos much more.

Yeah, she's got a January B-day like her dad so it has to be an indoor event. Last year it was bowling. We go to Adventureland in the summer and the kids have fun each time we go.

Bouncers and Slydos was on my list, but it didn't seem like there was that much there to keep a dozen 8 and 9 year-olds busy. This is just from looking at their web site; I've never been there.

There's an indoor gokart place in Ronkonkoma with a lazertag room that we did for my daughter's 11th B-D. It's all indoor, and the karts are electric, so there's no exhaust to choke on. We had a good time there.
I still think Boomer's was the best (exit 65), but that's a summer place, too.

Had my 7 yr olds bday party at pet den in commack the kids loved it they had a party room next to pet store and brought out all the animals for the kids to see. Was a welcome change from the constant bounce house parties I'm always at. I think a few other pet stores around the island are doing this now to. The wife thought pet den was cleanest

I never would have thought of that, but it really sounds like a good idea. Reminds me of another option, Whitepost farm in Melville. That's another warm weather place, and I can't imagine it being appetizing to a kid over 11 or 12, but they do have a party room.
I see that Eric has already decided on ice skating, but maybe others will find these suggestions useful.

Go mid summer, they have giant airblown water rides. I still like petting/feeding the smelly animals. When I take my daughter to the Game Farm out in Manorville, I'm pretty sure I get more out of it than she does. The Giraffe always licks someone's face, or the top of their head while we're there. What could be more fun to see than that??!

We go to petting zoos during the spring/summer and we both love feeding the animals.

The party ended up at Monster Mini-Golf. The kids had a good time and the girls who hosted the party were excellent. I wasn't really impressed with the golf course, but the kids enjoyed themselves so it was worth it.
