I've heard a lot about damsels aggression and being teritorial but a lot of people say they've had no problems with them I could do without one though

My guess is that they get aggressive as they get older. Perhaps most people don't have them long enough to find out?

Seems reasonable to me. This is coming from someone with 8 fish, albeit small, in a 30 gallon, LOL! None of your fish are very big, so should be good.

I assume you are talking the Black and White Chromis, Chromis margaritifer, which should be fine, as well as the rest of your stock list......

It's called a three stripe damsel I believe. My biggest concern is over stocking. Also would a yellow tang or hippo tang be okay in this size tank? To my knowledge any tang needs A LOT of swimming space.

I wouldn't do a tang. I did put a small yellow in my 57 rimless but I did it knowing it was temporary.

I have 5 fish in a 40 breeder which is the same size footprint (36x18) just shallower. I wouldn't feel comfortable adding anymore at this point.
1 x Melanarus Wrasse (Mature)
1 x B&W Clown (Mature)
1 x Yellow Watchman Goby (Mature)
1 x Flame Angel (2")
1 x Matted Filefish (3.5")

Okay so the two clowns and hog fish are a must because I currently have them in my 29. Always wanted a mandarin so he will definitely be added once the tank is established. I'd love a shrimp and goby pair. And my girlfriend really likes the flame angels. So that's six decent sized fish then maybe a school(probably 3) cardinals or chromis? Or stick with the six?

-1 on that hogfish. I have one in my 210 and he's a terror.

The Three strip damsel should be OK if its added later if not last....
