I am building a 120g reef tank. My mind is getting numb reading about skimmers. I am looking for suggestions on make and models of decent quality skimmers. $300ish range or less.

One I was considering was an ASM G2. Anyone have any comments on that one?

Get the Diablo 160xs. I have it on my 90 and extremely impressed

The best skimmers that I have running right now are, in this order ER 12-2 circa early 2000s, Bubble King 250, ASM G4, ASM G3 (several), Few Years Old Octopus with Sicce Pump, Tunze 9002 (rarely running) and then Diablo DC 350 (not very good IMO).

I think that the ASM is a great skimmer for that price range.

I use an AquaMaxx EM 300 for my 120, and I'm very happy with it. I paid $370 IIRC, so it may be slightly more expensive than you're looking for.

It's $400 instead of $300 but I'm putting a Vertex Omega 150 on my new 120.

Get an Aqua Euro 250 Gallon Protein Skimmer. Built like a tank!

I know because I have used one for more than 5 years now.

I have used an ASM skimmer. This skimmer is way better:

A guy near me has an ASM G4 that's a few months old. He's selling it for $250... Good deal?
