It has been years since I've been on here, and I couldn't find the answer through Google searching, but I was wondering when an SPS coral dies, does it keep its color, or does it turn white?

Thanks

It eventually turns white.

It eventually turns white.

How soon after? The reason I ask is because I was at an art museum the other day and they had some colored ones, and I thought to myself that I thought they turned white. Then I started doubting myself after that.

It depends, corals can bleach out and turn white but not be dead, if it is white but you can see polyps than it's still alive(but not happy). But usually when they die they turn white soon after, it depends though. Those ones you saw May have been painted.

Yeah, it was at an art museum, and like I said, I remember reading somewhere that all sps coral turns white after it is dried out and dead, but they are often dyed to look nice.
