Yeah, the lower end of the table completely removes and I made a platform for the sump that is on casters so it can easily brought outside to clean:)

I love Reef Octopus skimmers. I am planning h in getting the DCS-150int for my tank. I have owned 3 and in all cases I have gotten junk from them with 12 hours of setting them up. That's brand new with no break in.

I really thought your tile work was in genius. I have a 90gallon tank, 36x24x24, I'm going to set up, it's rimless as well. Originally I was going to build a base cabinet that was oversized length wise to to build a desk with a high-stool chair.

Anyways it helped me solve my problem with what to do for the top, thanks for the idea.

Trying to see the pictures. This build is fantastic. I love to see original ideas. Lately I have been wondering why more people don't build their hanging fixtures into a shelf from the wall and run the wires in the wall like a tv. You took it a step further with shelf long ways from the wall. It leaves it open enough that people can see each other from the opposite sides of the table.

I also forgot to mention the fish street doser that I have on my tank worked fine for about 3 weeks, but when my wife can home the other day the tank was completely white. So I left work and can home to find that the doser had dosed about a half a gallon of part a and b and the mag. I wanted everyone to know that this doser IS not reliable. After this I can't trust this device and would advise any to not buy this. Don't got cheap on dosers, it's just not worth it . I would also like to ad that I contacted fishstreet and they informed me that that would refund my money and the shipping back, but I think I'll keep it and just use on manual mode to fill the 2 part cups up and use the 3rd pump on auto to dose coral food. The worst that could happen is it will dose all the coral food for the day.:)

Some very awesome stuff in this thread. I love the tank/table setup. One question, why did you choose the light you did for the frag tank? From what I understand, it only uses .25w LEDs. For a frag tank designed to grow out coral I would think you would want more umph.

I know they have great customer service, but 2 months of use....does anyone know if they will want me to send the whole light back or will they just send me the part?

The frag tank is 7 gallons, as far as the tank the main tank I bought from a stor in my area. The frag tank I built out of 1/4 abs plastic sheeting, you can get it on ebay. The cost payed a big part in this, it was creeper for me to build it out of plywood and then sheet the plywood with the plastic instead of what most people do is coat it he plywood with some type of a epoxy. Now keep I mind most of the good epoxy are expensive and usually only available I a gallon witch would be way to much for this:) I would say if someone was doing a small shallow frag this could be a way to do it.. It's easy just line the inside of a plywood tank, add some silicon "lots ":), let it dry for a week and your done.

Yeah it's fairly new, but I've used the live rock from the main tank and I've been using the water from that tank also to do the 1 gallon water changes.. Now as far as the growth goes, everything has been growing great with no problems.

Hey Dave I did a search on drilling the nuvo and it looks like only the lid is tempered, so you can drill it(just not the curved edges). If you have some polarized sun glasses you can check if its tempered, by looking at the glass and if it is tempered you'll see black lines or dots on the glass. If its not tempered then you won't see anything. Its best to look at the back window of your car first as they are nearly always tempered, so you will know what you're looking for when you do the tank. I haven't tried this method yet but when I was looking to drill my tank I found a video on YouTube explaining how to tell if it is tempered glass. But from what I've read nuvos aren't tempered.
Hope that helps:)

Thank you! This helps a lot. I will post so pics when I do the drilling, I also some ideas for surface skimming using the acrylic that I remove from the tank. My thought is to use the entire length of the tank and cut notches in the acrylic like I did I the sump. This should provide excellent surf skimming and if I drill the back I can install a bulkhead and use 90 for the drain. Don't worry if it sounds confusing I will be posting pics of the entire project.

How much flow will you have going through it and what type of overflow(syphon or no syphon)?

daveb1979
08/15/2014, 05:53 PM
My plan is to drill the back of the tank, install a bulkhead and use a slip PVC 90 turned up. Pretty straight forward. Now for flow, tom thinking. Tnk is bout 9 gallons now with the back removed, so I was just Informed by my wife that she wants sps in the nano " since this tank is hers" so I would need enough flow for sps with no power heads.

Well I'm on call for the next 2 weeks, so there will be very little progress on the nano/frag tank.

I just found this tank build and I love it. I love the table tank and how the 7 gallon frag tank looks like a piece of art.

If anyone in the central Florida area is interested in the table stand pm me.? I would like to get 500. The stand would be good for a 60 shallow, 80 shallow or a 120g 48x24x24.. The stand would also be good for lets a 36"w x 5" long tank to, this size would leave you with 6" space all the way around the tank. .
