Its like the polyps are falling off...or being eaten?

It is about 6 weeks in the tank (from LiveAquaria)

This one came in the same delivery (purple polyp green birds nest) and has shown growth already:

This pink birds nest has been in the tank a year and was the same size as the two new ones:

Overall the tank has been quite stable and healthy for some time aside from some bubble algae:

You can see the same birds nest in question just a few weeks ago looking good (upper left atop the rock):

If you read my recent mouse post...that was very recent and this issue started prior to that.

params are normal and steady:

phos ~0 per hanna; ph 8.2; cal 425; mag 1300; alk 8.3 no nitrites or nitrates; 1.025 sg...temp range 79-82. equipment in sig. T5s on 10 hrs, MH the middle 8...nothing has changed.

Would anything pick at this thing? I have a rabbit, yellow tank, blue chrome, couple of cleaner shrimp, some pepps somewhere, two toned blennie, couple of clowns....wrasse.

Wake up at 1:00 am when all the lights are out and see if you can catch something picking at it. I recently found and possibly eradicated an infestation of arminid slugs this way on my clove polyps.

Did you acclimate it to the light? Since the others are doing great water quality seems to be no issue. So it could be stressed from too much light.

Looks like RTN, I believe it's a goner.

RTN - Recessive Tissue Necrosis

It was acclimated...spent two weeks atthe bottom of the tank like all others. So too much light would do this? It is the highest coral in the tank but my rocks top out at 2/3 the height of the tank (24")... So it requires "high" light and flow...basically its 10-12" from the bulbs.

Well i'll check the after dark thing and research RTN....i guess whatever it is its not all that common.

....and warning dont do an image search on rtn....!

RTN = Rapid Tissue Necrosis -to differentiate from Slow Tissue Necrosis (STN) although I have no idea what timeframe determines one from the other :-) We lost a volleyball size colony of birdnest in ~24 hours so RTN can happen very quickly.

I had an Acro receding like that and cut off the dead portion and reattached it to its spot and it has fully recovered. It might be worth a try.

yeah I did the same, one of my 2 frags was doing that and the tips were covered in coralline, I broke off the tips that had that and its doing better, my other birdsnest is growing like crazy

I had a Purple Stylophora that did something similar, although it would bubble before falling off. I snapped off the section that was living and glued it down somewhere else. I haven't seen any re-occurrence.
