Local reefer has a 48" 2x175 w single ended metal halide unit that he wanting to sell. I need to replace my old unit that blew up last night. Will this unit work on a 90g tank with several anemones. I was using a 48" 2x 250w

Yep. For a 90 gallon reef tank - 2 x 175 watt will work fine.
