Tangs,

I love them and have the following" 1-10" Vlangimi, 1-6" Sailfin, 1-3" Hippo tang, and I plan on getting a Kole Tang.

I'm a sucker for designer clowns. http://blog.aquanerd.com/2013/10/sustainable-aquatics-longfin-clownfish.html
what I would do if they could actually get some eggs from this clown.

If I could only keep one fish I probably wouldn't bother with the hobby. If I could only keep one group of fish it would be wrasses. Until recently I would have said tangs, but there are just so many wonderful wrasses to choose from - and they don't generally get ich and beat the hell out of each other.

Wrasses: beautiful, active, diverse groups from easy to challenging to care for. What's not to love about wrasses.

For me it would have to be wrasses. The personalities are hilarious and always keep me laughing.

If I were only keeping one fish (as opposed to what was asked which is one type of fish), it would be an undulated or clown trigger (either of which will not allow living tank mates). If only one type of fish, wrasses.

1 fish... It would be either a cuttle fish (not really a fish) or a frogfish\sargassum...angler of some kind.

That's tough... It would be a toss up between and Imperator Angel or a Clown Trigger. As far as any group of fish, the Wrasse group is by far the most colorful and entertaining.

Hawaiian triggers are the best IMO

If I had to choose ONE, I would go with either the wartskin angler or the sargassum fish!

A purple tang. An extremely close second would be a queen angel.

As much as I hate my melanurus wrasse because it's such a sand dive bomber and snail wrangler, it is an extremely smart and beautiful fish. It's a definite love/hate relationship.

My female misbar 8 year old percula clown wins, hands down though. She's been through a lot and is such a mellow girl.

Clowns in a host species anemone. Specifically, several ocellaris clowns in a colorful gigantea.

As for type of fish I would go with tangs (every tank that's big enough deserves a tang), for an exact fish majestic/blue girdled angel hands down.:D

Type of fish hands down would be tangs. Absolutely love purple, sohal, blue hippos and naso's. Have kept all at some point in my reefing days. I have never tried to keep an Achilles tang but one day I want to try because they are so damn awesome!

One type of fish? Blennies. I love my Midas blenny and my Orange Spotted Blenny. Beautiful and great personalities.

Zanclus cornutus. I absolutely love mine. Beasts anything added to the tank, and eats everything thrown at it. Even takes koi food from my fingers...

Definitely between these and Wrasses for me.

Either a copperband butterfly - they arent fish, theyre dogs with scuba gear - or this crazy little tidepool goby that hitchiked its way into my tank. Personality times a thousand.

Clowns, they're the reason I got in to this hobby... It was a hard call with tangs also, but at the end I just like clowns

If I had to pick one, it would be a tank big enough to have a pair of every type of tang, triggers and wrasses are tied for second, I think triggers beauty is severely underrated.
